Notes from 2018 Vintage

Every so often we will take some time and reflect on where we were, where we are and where we are going. We wanted to make sure to include you in our thoughts. Right now, the 2018 vintage is shaping up to be gorgeous. The weather has been great, but almost every year in the Napa Valley is wonderful. This leaves the vines happy and healthy. Our philosophy is that good wine starts with good grapes. So, we care about what happens in the vineyards.

As the wines sit in barrels it ages beautifully and transforms into something memorable every year. And when we make decisions at the winery, sometimes it doesn’t have an effect until two or three years later. This can drastically change how much wine we have available to sell as well as how much we set aside to pour in the tasting room, how much goes into our wine library and even how many Allotments are available. As we look to the future, we are excited to know that almost all our wines will be allocated, even before the grapes are picked. However, this does create a high demand for the wine and can leave a deficit in the tasting room. For this reason, we recommend you join the Allotment sooner than later. We anticipate we will need to start a wait list again in the not-so-distant future. It is a good problem, but a problem nonetheless. In the same vein, we are happy to announce that the 2012 vintage has been sold out. We are now pouring our 2013s & 2014s at the winery. While the 2015s mellow out in bottle, rest assured that if you are part of the Allotment, you are guaranteed your wine.

We are also happy to announce that our new, redesigned website is up and functional. We would love to hear your input. We want to make everything easier and more fun for you as you keep in touch with us. Please, visit the site and feel free to reach out to us. Over the next few months, we will let you know about some new features and functions as well.

Finally, as we look to the winter, we will be hosting a few dinners for some of our Allotment Members and patrons. If you are interested in doing this, let us know and we can arrange to stop by and see you. We find this is a great way to share our passion with your family and friends. We expect to do one or two tastings in each location. Each stop will be a different location each month. This will be the months of November, December, January, February and March. We always look forward to our next visit with each and every one of you.
